Erna Estella Murray
Our beloved mother, and grandmother, age 87, passed away Octo-ber 28, 2000 in Roosevelt from causes incident to age.
Erna was born June 6, 1913 in Myton, to William Martin Wall and Katherine Smith Herring Wall, the fourth of six children.
Married Clyde R. Murray Nov 7, 1931 in Price, UT. Their mar-riage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 6, 1985. Clyde preceded her in death Feb 5, 1998.
Erna helped her mother in the first telephone switchboard office in their home in Myton. Erna worked in many of the hotels in Myton as a young girl and met many of the travelers including "Butch Cassidy". She moved to Oakland, CA and lived with an aunt and attended Lake View High School. In 1929 she moved back to Duchesne helping her mother run the telephone switch board there. While living in Duchesne she worked in Dinnie Moore's Cafe and also in the creamery making and wrapping butter. While living in Duchesne she met her husband, Clyde, at a dance at Victory Park. She and Clyde were married in Price Nov 7, 1931. After her marriage to Clyde they made their home in Roosevelt where they built a family business and ranched in Neola.
Erna was an active member of the LDS Church, Roosevelt 4th Ward. She loved being a wife and mother and caring for her husband and family. She especially loved babies and little children.
Erna was the last survivor of her brothers and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde and sons Gail Richard "Nick", and Don (stillborn).
Survived by three sons and two daughters, Lois (Fritz) Hansen, Boise, ID, Donna (Venoy) Davies, Bountiful; Jerry (Jackie), Heber City; Larry (Cheryl), Roosevelt; and Danny, Neola. Erna's posterity continues with 24 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 12 great great-grandchildren. Erna will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be Thurs Nov 2, 2000, 11 a.m. at the Roosevelt LDS Stake Center, 447 E. Lagoon St. Friends may call at the Hullinger Mortuary, 457 E 300 N, Wed 6-8 p.m. and at the church Thurs 10-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
